Assalamualaikum. Today I'm going to share what I've learnt in the 2nd and 3rd week's lecture and tutorial. In the 2nd week's lecture, I learnt about mission, vision and objective. These three elements are very important in analysing a strategy. In my first tutorial, I met with Mdm Huda. She is a very experienced tutor. She has worked with many companies before becoming a lecturer in FEM. She shared with us certain issues regarding how to strategise. In the first tutorial too, she requested us to write our vision and mission and submit it to her. I was actually clueless about the vision and mission in my life. I've always wanted to be a banker. In the online forum, I mentioned that I want Islamic Finance to be well known and widely used in Singapore. This may seem impossible but who knows I can make that into reality. Allahumma ameen. In the 3rd week's lecture, I learnt about PESTEL and Porter's five competitive forces. Miss Ummi explained to us how to apply it by using automobile products as an example. It gives me a clearer vision and make me understand more about the chapter. I like the fact that Miss Ummi moves around in the lecture hall and interacts with the students. It makes me more alert in the lecture and be prepared before entering the class. We were also given a case, Robin Hood case, to be solved in the tutorial class. Today, the tutorial class started with sharing any business related article that Mdm Huda requested us to search the week before. I chose an article about the launching of the new Proton Supreme S. I explained what I understood from the article. However, Mdm Huda added that we need to know and search more than just what we read in the article. Other classmates shared their articles too. In the tutorial session, we shared and exchanged information about what is going on in the business world today. It was very enriching. I feel that I'm still lack of a lot of knowledge in the business field. Next, we discussed about the Robin Hood's case. Mdm Huda shared with us an easy way to answer and solve a case. She divides it into several parts that includes key issues, key decision, stakeholder, analysis, alternatives and implementation plan. This way, it is easier for us to see the flow of the case and the strategy implemented in the case. All in all, today I learn to read more so as to be well informed on what is happening the real business world. As a university student, I cannot be spoon fed. I need to find the information by myself. I know I can do it! InsyaAllah. :) |
